WELCOME BACK MUSTANGS!

Please review the following information with your child. 

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT CLASS MY CHILD IS IN?

On Monday, August 31, teachers will be calling families to let them know what class their child is in and what doors to use for entering/exiting the school

HOW DO I DO THE SELF-ASSESSMENT WITH MY CHILD?

  • Every morning, screen your child/ren before they come to school
  • If they are not feeling well, please keep them home

WHAT TIME DOES SCHOOL START?

  • This year school will start at 8:45 AM, warning bell will be at 8:40 AM
  • A staggered entry will be scheduled to get students safely into the school

WHAT ARE THE ARRIVAL PROCEDURES?

  • All grades will have designated doors for entering and exiting the school and proceed, with distancing, to classrooms after sanitizing at the entrance
  • Students should put personal items away, enter classroom one at a time, wash hands with soap/water and proceed to designated seat
  • Grade 4 to 6 students will need to have their mask on before entering the school
  •  For safety reasons, please do not drop off students on Crowe Avenue

Kiss and Ride will open between 8:35 AM and 8:55 AM

  • Please remain in the car unless your child needs assistance getting out
  •  Staff will greet and open the door, if students need to be unbuckled, a parent will have to get out and assist with the seat belt

Busses arrive between 8:25 AM and 8:45 AM

  • Students will be met by supervisor who will walk students into the school
  •  Students will go directly to their classrooms

Walkers are encouraged to come at 8:40 AM

  • Students go directly to their classroom where they will be met by staff
  • DO not send your children early because there is no supervision and we need to stagger how many students are entering at once

*Revisions to times and procedures will be made if necessary

IS THERE A MORNING RECESS?

There is NO morning recess or outdoor supervision this year. Supervisors will be assigned to meet busses and bring students into the school. Please do not sent your child to school, if they are walking or getting dropped off, until 8:40 AM.

WHAT DO I DO IF MY CHILD IS LATE OR NEEDS TO BE PICKED UP EARLY?
If your child is going to be late or picked up early, let the school know by calling or texting and staff can either meet you at the Kiss and Ride or Main Entrance.

CAN PARENTS COME INTO THE SCHOOL?

Parents will not be allowed to enter the school at this time. Visitors to the school will be limited to essential workers, and do not include parents/guardians. Parents/guardians are considered essential when there is an urgent need/emergency.

WHAT DOES THE DAY LOOK LIKE?
Block 1 - 8:45 to 10:25 (100 min)
Break   - 10:25 to 11:15 (25 OUT/25 IN = 50 min)
Block 2 - 11:15 to 12:55 (100 min)
Break   - 12:55 to 1:45 (25 OUT/25 IN = 50 min)
Block 3 - 1:45 to 3:25 (100 min)

WHAT DO NUTRITION BREAKS LOOK LIKE?

  • Students will have 25 minutes outside, 25 minutes inside with staggered exit and entry procedures and a designated cohort zone
  • All classrooms have been divided into two groups, Yellow and Blue
  • Dismissal will be staggered, half will go out (Yellow) and then the other half (Blue) when the hallways are clear
  • When preparing to go outside students will wash hands before leaving the classroom, get dressed, and maintain distance as they are dismissed
  • Students will go to their designated zone on the playground, weekly rotation
  • When preparing to come in for lunch, half (Yellow) will come in, then the other half (Blue) when the hallways are clear
  • Students will distance as they re-enter using designated door, undress, wash hands as they re-enter classrooms, unmask and eat, wash hands, remask and prepare for learning

WHAT DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BRING TO SCHOOL?

  • A mask (Grade 4 to 8 students), indoor shoes and lunch
  • Students will be given a water bottle and all the school supplies they will need
  • We encourage families to purchase ear buds/head phones but will provide if necessary

HOW DO STUDENTS SAFELY REMOVE MASKS?

  • Untie the strings behind the head or stretch the ear loops
  • Handle only by the ear loops or ties, fold outside corners together
  • Wash hands with soap and water
  • Place in a bag until you need to remask (not on a lanyard for safety reasons)
  • Machine washable masks, should be washed daily

WHAT ARE THE DISMISSAL PROCEDURES?
All grades will have designated doors for exiting the school after sanitizing. To get students out safely, dismissal times will be staggered. Parents are not allowed in the school, so if you are picking up your child please wait outside.

Kiss and Ride will be open from 3:15 PM to 3:35 PM

  • Please remain in the car unless your child needs assistance
  • Staff will greet and open the door, if students need to be buckled, a parent will have to get out and assist with the seat belt
  • Please let your child’s teacher know approximately what time you will pick up

Busses depart from 3:30 to 3:35 PM

  • Using the PA system, each bus cohort will be dismissed one at a time
  • Students will go to the atrium meet their bus cohort and a staff member and proceed to the bus loading zone

Student Pick-Up/Walkers will start being dismissed at 3:15, using atrium doors

  • Older students who walk home with a younger student will be dismissed first
  • The remaining walkers will be dismissed by grade
  • If you are picking up your child, please let the classroom teacher know and pre-arrange a spot for your child to meet you outside

WHAT DOOR DOES MY CHILD USE TO ENTER/EXIT THE SCHOOL?
Morning Entrance
Bussed Kindergarten Students - North Doors (4th Street)
Kindergarten/Primary (Grades 1 to 3) - West Doors (Kiss and Ride)
Junior (Grades 4 to 6) - South Doors (Main Entrance)

Afternoon Exit
Bussed Students - South Doors (Main Entrance)
Walkers - South Doors (Stairwell Entrance)
Kiss and Ride - West Doors

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Staff and signage will support students in learning new routines
  • Morning message will also remind students to spread kindness not germs
  • Library books will be delivered to classrooms, students can request titles
  • Reading Recovery and Speech services will be provided with extra safety measures in place
  • There will be no Breakfast or Hot Lunch Program until further notice
  • Mask breaks will be scheduled by class
  • Masks must be worn when exiting the building, but may be removed by students if they maintain a 2 metre distance from each other when they are on the playground
